Inter-Academia Conference 2025 in Budapest, Hungary

The 22nd Inter-Academia Conference, jointly organised by Shizuoka University and its partner universities in Central and Eastern Europe, was held in Budapest, Hungary, from 15 to 19 September 2025. This marked the fourth time the conference has been hosted in Hungary.

From Shizuoka University, a total of 17 faculty members and graduate students participated, including Professor Jun Kondoh (Dean, Graduate School of Science and Technology), Professor Kazuhiko Hara (Dean, Graduate School of Medical Photonics), and Professor Toru Aoki (Director, Research Institute of Electronics).

The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Annamaria R. Varkonyi-Koczy (John von Neumann University), Chair of the Organising Committee, and featured welcome addresses from Professor Kondoh, Professor Aoki, and Professor Ryszard Jablonski (Warsaw University of Technology). This was followed by two plenary lectures, including one delivered by Professor Yukinori Ono (Shizuoka University).

During the conference, active discussions were held on advancing collaborative research among member universities. At the Executive Committee meeting, it was formally approved that the Iasi University of Life Sciences (Romania)—which has recently strengthened research ties with Shizuoka University—would join Inter-Academia as a new member.
The program featured eight invited lectures, 28 oral presentations, and 11 poster presentations by young researchers and graduate students, many of which included short talks. Participants engaged in lively exchanges across a wide spectrum of research fields.

At the closing ceremony, Professor Ionut Topala (Dean, Faculty of Physics, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, Romania), representing the host institution of the 23rd Inter-Academia Conference in 2026, presented plans for next year’s meeting to be held in Romania.
